Hunt Auction at the Louisville Slugger Museum
The famous Hunt Auctions had a massive memorabilia auction today. Who says memorabilia has lost value ?
Jackie Robinson’s 1948 road jersey sold for $325000.
Derek Jeter’s signed 2009 All Star Game practice jersey sold for $4500.
My favorite piece – 1912 invitation cover to the opening of Fenway Park in 1912. I lost out on the bidding here. The cover sold for $1200.
All of the items in the auction also have a buyer’s premium attached and freight. A buyer’s premium is generally about 15% on top of your bid that goes to the auction house.

Free T-shirt

A new logo was designed today for fenway1912. A free t shirt will go to the first person who can tell me what hero inspired the batter in the image. email rick@fenway1912.com
another prize of a free t shirt and cap will go to whomever can tell me which baseball card inspired this image. email rick@fenway1912.com
Jason Varitek Signed Helmet
Although the NFL cornered the market on signed mini helmets – Baseball helmets signed are not quite as popular. Full sized replica (not the cheap plastic type) are available on line. Red Sox catcher used a silbver paint pen to showcase his autograph on this full sized rpelica catcher’s helmet. This silver or gold paint pens are available in all craft and art stores. These pens are in ideal tool for helmet signing. I was fortunate to get an MLB authenticator to affix the mlb logo and serial #. www.mlb.com/authentication
Blockbuster Trades
![]()
Some amazing trades went down in baseball today.. Peavy to the White Sox, Nick Johnson to the Marlins, Cabrera to the Twins and of course two great trades for the Red Sox.
We did not get to enjoy the talents of Laroche too long as he heads back to Atlanta.

Of course some sadness today as well when Sox fans had to say goodbye to the promising and classy Justin Masterson.
Victor Martinez is a huge asset to the Red Sox. He will fit in well, unfortunately this may be the end of Jason Varitek’s run.
Casey Kotchman will make a nice bench addition, but I still feel Kotsay is better suited for this role and the White Sox will realize that too.
Mark Kotsay
I was devastated to hear the Sox designate Mark Kotsay for assignment. He was an asset to the team and his clubhouse presence and skills will be missed. He is a first rate outfielder hitter and has exceptional footwork at first base.
His Red Sox t shirt is part of the Fenway Collection 1912. I am happy for him that he landed with a pennant contender. He will help stabilize the Chisox.

The 3 Day Walk for Breast Cancer
![]()

I am so proud of my wife Suzie and our friend Helen as they set out on a three day walk sixty mile walk for breast cancer.
It is great how MLB promotes breast cancer awareness and raises so much for charity.
Fenway 1912 – Business Plans – Inventory Control/Purchasing
Purchasing and Inventory Control – Fenway1912′s excess cash should be used for ‘good deals.’ In this economy, there are many great deals on auction, as many collectors need the cash.
A strong discipline needs to apply to our buyers as we are a growing company and need to keep our costs low.
This helmet was recently picked up quite reasonably at auction, This Team USA batting helmet was signed by Team USA 2006.
Jason Varitek Camouflage Catcher’s Gear

The gear was worn by Jason Varitek on Memorial Day. The proceeds benefited the Massachusetts Soldier’s Legacy Fund.

The Homerun Derby
The Homerun Derby is such a treat. It is a great chacne to catch Major Leaguers truly enjoying themselves. Kudos to State farm for sponsoring. Cannot wait until tonight for the game.
One of the best parts of the All Star Game is all the cool memorabilia with it.
